HSE St Petersburg has hosted a seminar entitled “Creative spaces: dream or dream solution?”, with the participation of Melanie Post van Ophem, former chair of the Rotterdam Council for Arts and Culture, and Hans Karel Wesseling, Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in St Petersburg.
A Gathering of Historians
Zelenogorsk hosted an international conference on the history of diverse societies, as well as on the history of nationalism. The conference, which was called ‘Ruptures and Continuities in Histories of Empire: Federalism, Regionalism, and Autonomies as Alternative Political Imaginaries of Post-Imperial Political Order’, was organized by the Department of History at HSE - St. Petersburg and drew leading experts in the field of ‘new imperial history’.
New International Labs at HSE St. Petersburg to Study Economy of Health and Game Theory
On June 26, the HSE Academic Council approved the opening of two new international laboratories. Specifically, the St. Petersburg School of Economics and Management will gain a laboratory for the study of healthcare economics, management, and policy, as well as a laboratory for game theory and decision-making. The labs' academic supervisors will be renowned international scholars.
Centre for Youth Studies in Glasgow
The Centre for Youth Studies’ long-term and productive cooperation with the University of Glasgow and the Centre for East European and Russian Studies is still underway. At an annual research forum the university hosted in Glasgow, six researchers from HSE’s Centre for Youth Studies presented papers at a separate panel devoted exclusively to the Centre’s work.
International Antitrust Discussion Platform to be based at HSE
On the 22-23rd June the BRICS Competition Law and Policy Forum took place at HSE St Petersburg. The international conference was organised jointly by the HSE-Skolkovo Institute for Law and Development, the Centre for Law, Economics and Society at UCL and the Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS). Heads of antitrust departments and experts from the BRICS and the EEC were joined by leading academics and experts on competition law from Europe and the US.

The building that used to house St. Petersburg's Patriotic Institute has held its status as an educational establishment for more than 200 years. The campus was placed under the operational control of the St. Petersburg Higher School of Economics in 2006.
American Academic’s Library Opens in HSE
On Thursday 4th June the Richard Stites Memorial Library opened at HSE St Petersburg. Courtney Nemroff, USA Acting Consul General to St Petersburg was there for the grand opening ceremony.

Belgian economist Jacques-Francois Thisse is Academic Supervisor at the Center for Market Studies and Spatial Economics at HSE in Saint Petersburg. In an interview with HSE News Service he talked about why he likes Saint Petersburg, what fascinates him about Russia and how disillusion in Marxist ideas led him to studying market economies.

According to RePec’s April rankings, HSE is ranked first in Russia and 151st globally. It is also in the 5% of best institutions in the world in the field of Economics. Other HSE divisions recognized by the ranking include HSE St Petersburg, which is third on the list of the best Economics Institutions in Russia and is in the top 10% of Economics institutions worldwide, and HSE Centre for Market Studies and Spatial Economics and the Faculty of Economics (HSE Moscow), which are in the top 10% globally.
HSE St. Petersburg and University of Jyväskylä to Launch International Mobility Cooperation
The Department of History at the Higher School of Economics – St. Petersburg and the University of Jyväskylä (Finland) will begin student and teacher international mobility cooperation for the 2015/2016 academic year.
