HSE Leads in SSRN Rankings
The Social Science Research Network (SSRN) publishes a monthly ranking of research centers and universities in the social and economic sciences. According to the results of the first quarter of 2013, the HSE ranks first for the number of registered authors publishing their papers on the SSRN site. Over the year, their number has more than doubled: from 117 to 272.
HSE staff papers published on SSRN attract the attention of other users of the repository. The number of views of these papers has almost tripled over the last year.
SSRN is one of the world’s largest open digital repositories of articles and working papers in key areas of administration and economics. Publishing papers there makes them available for the broadest range of readers and strengthens the university’s positions in international rankings.
SSRN’s open access includes almost 362,000 summaries of research results as well as about 295,000 academic papers. Among them, the share of papers submitted by HSE staff continues to grow. While a year ago the HSE was ranked 103 by the total number of papers published on SSRN, today it ranks 42nd.
At the same time, the HSE’s researchers have become more proactive with regards to taking advantage of SSRN opportunities. This is demonstrated by the considerable growth in the number of new papers uploaded to SSRN over the last 12 months. Today the HSE ranks third by this indicator.
HSE staff papers published on SSRN attract the attention of other users of the repository. The number of views of these papers has almost tripled over the last year. The HSE ranks 20 by this indicator; new papers submitted by HSE staff were downloaded by SSRN users over 13,000 times. The number of citations from these papers has also tripled (from 317 to 927).

The Social Science Research Network (SSRN) publishes a monthly ranking of socio-economic research centers and universities. As of November 1st, 2012, the Higher School of Economics is in 2nd place in terms of number of papers published over the last 12 months. A year ago the HSE was 85th according to this indicator.
