Political Atlas of the Modern World

How can we compare political systems in contemporary world politics? What measurements can we use to understand the political development of countries whose histories and culture make them so different? Political Atlas of the Modern World is a unique reference source which addresses these questions by providing a comparative study of the political systems of all 192 countries of the world.

‘We Have Taken an Important Strategic Decision’

On September 17tha delegation from the University of Lancaster, Great Britain, visited the Higher School of Economics. At a series of meetings, the guests learnt more about the HSE’s activities, and were involved in negotiations regarding possible areas of cooperation between the two universities.

‘The future is more than just tomorrow’

Geoffrey Crossick, Vice-Chancellor of the University of London, took part in the HSE International College of Economics and Finance graduation ceremony on September 16th. What else was in the programme of his visit to Moscow? What does he think about the problems and prospects for higher education development in Great Britain? And what about cooperation with the HSE?

‘We Managed to Broaden the Programme of Education’

Elena Guseletova, Head of the HSE Faculty of Public Administration Department of International Cooperation, told us about the results of this year’s summer schools organized by the Faculty.

Open Academic Space

On September 17th the International Research and Educational Laboratory of Financial Economics opened at the HSE. It was founded by the HSE International College of Economics and Finance together with the London School of Economics and Political Sciences.

Similarity of Strategies

On September 10th a meeting between representatives of the HSE and Tohoku University, Japan, took place at the HSE. The aim of the visit was a preliminary discussion of the potential areas of cooperation between the two universities.

To Start ‘from Scratch’?

On September 7th Valdai International Discussion Club held a roundtable discussion on ‘Russian History, Geography and Future’ at the HSE Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs.

Studying the Civil Society

The 9th World Assembly of the World Alliance for Citizen Participation (CIVICUS) ‘Acting Together for a Just World’ took place in Montreal on August 20th-23rd and involved about 500 delegates from 70 countries, with representatives from NGOs, international organizations, media, business and research institutions, including the Higher School of Economics.

‘The Conference is Open to Everyone'

On August 23rd the ICABEEP (International Confederation for the Advancement of Behavioral Economics and Economic Psychology) Summer School started its work at the Higher School of Economics. Alexis Belyanin, Co-Director of the School and Head of the Laboratory for Experimental and Behavioural Economics, spoke to us before the opening and told us about the School as well as about the conference which will take place afterwards.

‘Research Work will Start in the First Year of Study'

Vladimir Avtonomov, Dean of the HSE Faculty of Economics, told us about the new standards for the Faculty and its undergraduate curricula.
