HSE Students Take Part in China ICBC Training Camp
In August, 2024, the China ICBC Training Camp took place in Guiyang. The Youthful Passion Fruit team from the HSE Faculty of Computer Science participated in the programming contest. This event brought together around 40 teams from China, Japan, Russia, Belarus, Poland, Mexico, and other countries.
The strongest teams from the 48th ICPC finals and university teams with excellent results from the 47th contest finals, were invited to take part.
ICPC Training Camps are organised by the university community of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC). These camps prepare teams for the next season of the competition.
The training sessions were held on-site. Two days were dedicated to solving and analysing tasks, and on the third day, the participants took a tour of local attractions.
Students of the Bachelor's Programme in Applied Mathematics and Information Science at HSE University, Alexander Nekrasov, Yury Pustovalov, and Alexey Vasiliev, took part in the training camp.
Alexander Nekrasov
— During the training camp, two ICPC training contests were held. We solved exciting tasks and exchanged ideas with teams from other countries, which helped us determine and correct problems in our strategies for future competitions. In addition to studying, we also participated in various activities, such as kayaking and a tour to the Dragon Palace cave. The training camp was very interesting, and we look forward to visiting China again to take part in similar events.
Mikhail Gustokashin, Director of the Centre of Student Competitions, Faculty of Computer Science
— Participation in international training camps is crucial when preparing for the final stage of the competition. Each country has its own specifics, and at the international level, tasks are proposed by representatives from different countries and programming styles. These training sessions provide an opportunity to explore new ideas and techniques that may differ from those used in our region. We hope to continue our cooperation and invite the best teams from around the world for our training camps next year.
The 48th the International Collegiate Programming Contest finals will take place on September 15–20, 2024. Wishing the HSE team every success!
