SERU survey at HSE
Starting in April 2013, a systematic annual online-survey of undergraduate students will be launched at HSE. The questionnaire of the SERU survey is synchronized across all SERU-I participants that gives opportunity for detailed comparative analysis of the learning environment in different universities. HSE’s participation in the SERU-I Consortium and Project is coordinated by the Centre for Institutional Research.
By participating in the SERU survey HSE will have an opportunity to analyze our undergraduate students experience and compare it with student experience in top ranked international research universities. The survey results will be used to improve learning conditions and student services in HSE.
In April 2013, HSE undergraduate students will be invited to complete online SERU questionnaire adapted to the specifics of the Russian university.
Why it is important for HSE and its students to take part in the SERU survey?
Joining the SERU project will give an opportunity to:
- Identify the strengths and weaknesses of the HSE educational policy. The survey results can be used for:
- improvement of educational process (organization of courses, teaching methods, seminar and examination formats, etc.);
- improvement of student services (dormitories, medical and psychological help, dining, recreational and sport facilities, internships, etc.)
- Collect detailed information on each major in order to conduct comparison with the majors in international research universities;
- Find out how students assess the university environment, learning process and its outcomes. The survey instrument includes a range of questions to assess courses, study groups, teaching methods, skills acquired through learning, etc.
- Analyze the relationship between student university experience and career plans;
- Compare HSE with top ranked international research universities, to collaborate with SERU-I members and share best practices for improving the learning environment.
